Welcome to FEANI
FEANI is a federation of professional engineers that unites national engineering associations from 32 European countries. Thus, FEANI represents the interests of over 3,5 million professional engineers in Europe. FEANI is striving for a single voice for the engineering profession in Europe and wants to affirm and develop the professional identity of engineers. Through its activities and services, especially with the attribution of the EUR ING professional title, FEANI aims to facilitate the mutual recognition of engineering qualifications in Europe and to strengthen the position, role and responsibility of engineers in society. The General Secretariat of FEANI, managing the activities of the federation, is located in Brussels since late 1997.

Second European Engineers' Day, 20 November 2014
Engineers’ impact is visible in every aspect of human life: through increasingly more sophisticated inventions, techniques and equipment they enhance and irrevocably change society. Professional Engineers design and operate large projects and make society a better place to live: their solutions are always designed with economic, safety and functionality considerations in mind. Sustainability of the environment and aging infrastructures, deployment of innovative renewable sources of energy, increased quality of life, economic growth: they all await and expect engineering solutions. Therefore, in this globalized world, internationalization and cross-border recognition of engineering qualifications are important and vital to forge a better future for society.
New FEANI President, 10 October 2014
Brussels/Gdansk, 24 October 2014
Portuguese news: José Vieira Pereira
At its General Assembly in Gdansk of 10 October 2014, FEANI, the European Federation of National Engineering Associations, unanimously elected, Prof. Dr. José Manuel VIEIRA as new President. This is his first mandate for three years as President after having been FEANI Executive Board member since 2011. Prof. J. VIEIRA succeeds Dr. Rafael ALLER from Spain.
In his application speech, Prof. VIEIRA emphasized his support of the FEANI Strategic Plan 2013-2017. He highlighted the FEANI mission of promoting the mobility, the education and the professional development of engineers in order to enhance the visibility of the value of engineers to society. He stressed in particular the importance of addressing issues related to young engineers. Considering that Europe is facing a vocational problem in attracting young people for engineering studies, he warned that this situation can significantly impact European supremacy on innovation and industrial competitiveness. Education and employment of young engineers being a European issue, FEANI and its National Members will plan and implement initiatives advocating the engineering profession, ideally with support of the industry and the European Institutions.
As further cornerstone of his mandate, Prof. J. VIEIRA emphasized the communication with and between the FEANI Member associations, for instance at the recently established “National Member Forum”. He furthermore advocated initiatives to reach utmost visibility for FEANI, for instance through regular conferences being organized in isolation or in connection with other stakeholders.
Prof. J. VIEIRA was born in Braga/Portugal. He is married and has three children. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Minho and Head of Hydraulics Division. He is also Vice President of the Portuguese Association of Engineers (Ordem dos Engenheiros). Prof. J. VIEIRA has more than 35 years' experience from practically all aspects of engineering activities either in the private or in the public sector: be it projects and consultancy, teaching, management or R&D.

FEANI ANNUAL REPORT 2012-2013
Why an engineerING card?
Mobility is important for Engineers, because of:
the demand for flexible deployment on an international basis and different availability of engineers across national borders.
Engineers and Employers require a tool that shows a comparable educational profile whose recognition is based on international standards.
The Engineering Card is already available in the following countries: Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic and Croatia.
It will be soon implemented in Portugal, Ireland, Slovenia, Macedonia, Luxemburg and Serbia, and in the future in the other 21 FEANI member countries.
EUR ING TITLE
The EUR ING title delivered by FEANI is designed as a guarantee of competence for professional engineers.
In order to facilitate the movement of practicing engineers within and outside the geographical area represented by FEANI's member countries and to establish a framework of mutual recognition of qualifications.
The EUR ING enables engineers who wish to practice outside their own country to carry with them a guarantee of competence which provides information about the various formation systems.
